Alexander Zverev had to go the distance against Alex De Minaur in Vienna ultimately winning 6-2 3-6 6-2 and advancing to the quarterfinals.
It was a very entertaining affair between Alexander Zverev and Alex De Minaur in the Austrian capital of Vienna. The German cruised, then struggled then cruised again to a 3-set victory against his Australian opponent. The first set was a very interesting one and it was dominated by Zverev. The German came in strong into the match and he was absolutely brilliant.
He won the set with 6-2 without losing a single 1st serve point (14/14). He also saved all three break points he faced while winning 6/8 points when De Mianur missed his first set. It was brutal domination from start to finish and it seemed that this match would be over quickly.
However, exactly the opposite happened as De Minaur played much better in the 2nd set. He was especially impressive from the baseline this time around winning over 80 % of his 2nd serves which was the key to the set victory. He was also able to return much better winning 5/8 points on Zverev's 2nd serve. One of those points came on a break point and it proved enough to win the 2nd set with 6-3.
The final set was another interesting one as Zverev raised his level considerably and proved successful early on. He took a 3-0 lead against De Minaur by attacking his 2nd serve. The German also served very aggressively with great success keeping De Minaur away from any break points. It worked and Zverev was able to cruise to a 6-2 final set finish.

Alexander Zverev beats Alex De Minaur for the 5th time in 6 matches, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, to reach the QFs in Vienna against Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sascha leads the h2h 3-1 vs Felix, but lost the last one... at Wimbledon R4. [getty]
