Brad Gilbert

Brad Gilbert is a former professional tennis player and a famous American tennis coach who started working with the coaching staff of American tennis star Coco Gauff in July 2023.

Brad Gilbert was born August 9, 1961.

During his playing career, he won 20 singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in 1990, and a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 18 four years before that. He also won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics.

Since retiring from the tour as a player, he has coached several top players, most notably Andre Agassi who won six of his eight Grand Slam titles under Gilbert’s watch. Other players he has coached include Andy Roddick, Andy Murray, and Kei Nishikori. 

Gilbert, who had already won six major titles with Andre Agassi, also guided Andy Roddick to his only Grand Slam title in 2003.

He's currently coaching American wunderkind Coco Gauff, hoping to instill some of the wisdom that he has accrued over the course of his legendary career. Gilbert got off to a quick start with Gauff and her team in late July as a consultant before the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. She won the tournament, and went on to claim her biggest career title two weeks later in Cincinnati.

Gauff is officially though coached by Spaniard Pere Riba, an ambitious 35-year-old former ATP World No. 65 who is rising up the coaching ranks.  Riba, Gilbert and the rest of the team have found instant chemistry.
