Felix Auger-Aliassime will face off against either Sebastian Korda or Miomir Kecmanovic in the final of 2025 Adelaide International after denying Tommy Paul his top 10 debut in the process of victory.
Auger-Aliassime claimed it 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 against the American and improves to 2-0 in their head to head. Both wins have also come in a deciding set so very much a rivalry which could've gone any way. He is now up to World No.24 in the live rankings as he looks to ascend again after injury saw him drop.
In beating Paul at the Adelaide International to make the final, he will play for his first ATP title since Basel back in 2023. it was a gritty match between the pair with neither close to their best which was marked with 99 unforced errors between the pair in the contest.
The first set was in particular very close as it was sent to a tie-break in which Auger-Aliassime clinched it 7-6. Paul hit back capitalising on several break point opportunities and he produced solid play from the baseline to break his serve.
But the third set unravelled the way of Auger-Aliassime as he edged through 6-4 breaking the serve of Paul at a crucial juncture in the contest to start off and also he staved off break point chances in favour of Paul at 2-3 up and kept his serve for the rest of the contest.
Sealing the win in just over two and a half hours he will now contest the final on Saturday. Both players are currently slated to start their Australian Open campaigns over the weekend either on Sunday or Monday schedule dependent so as ever with the Adelaide International, it will be a mad dash to Melbourne in order to start their campaigns mostly for Auger-Aliassime who now plays in the final.
