Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard took to social media to show off her war wounds, as the Canadian sustained an injury to her eye during a recent pickleball training session.

The 2014 Wimbledon runner-up has made rare and sporadic appearances on the WTA circuit over the past two years. Bouchard has shifted her focus to pickleball, and is in fact scheduled to compete at ESPN's Pickleball Slam 3 next February.

The former World No.5 sustained the injury during a pickleball practice session. Bouchard took to social media to post a picture where she wore an eye patch over her left eye. The 30-year old would go on to explain that her partner accidently hit the ball towards her face, causing it to strike her in the eye.

"Got hit in the eye with a pickleball during training today. It was a shank off my partner’s paddle straight into the eye. Went to urgent care and have a scratched cornea. The things we do for this sport! Will be healed in a matter of days," wrote Bouchard on Twitter.

Bouchard is still scheduled to compete at Pickleball Slam 3 next year, where she'll team with Andy Roddick to take on the formidable team of Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.
