America’s tennis star
Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan
Riddle has revealed that at times, there is a competition between the two about
who earns more money. The 27-year-old is regarded as the best American player
currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category.
Fritz’s girlfriend Riddle has often been criticised for
becoming a tennis influencer. The 27-year-old has been recently quoted in a
report by
The Fresno Bee, where she stated that at times, there is competition
between the two about who earns more money.
"So many people have like such a problem with me
capitalizing on tennis and like his (Taylor Fritz's) career," said Morgan
Riddle. "He has always encouraged me and supported me to do it and he
wants it to be a dual income household I know that's not the classiest way to
put it like, I'll be (obscenity) real about it, I know that. It's almost sort
of like a competition between us now at grand slams and stuff, of who's going
to make more money during the grand Slam and I'm like you got to make it past
the fourth round of this tournament. It's a healthy completion between us but
yeah."
Fritz is going through a difficult campaign. The 27-year-old,
who became the first American player to play in the final of the US Open in a
long time last year, has featured in five competitions this year but has not
managed to get past the semifinals stage. His best outing this year came while
playing at the Miami Open, where he was eventually knocked out after losing in
the semifinal to the Czech Republic’s Jakub Mensik with a score of 7-6, 4-6,
7-6. Fritz is now set to start his campaign at the
Madrid Open, where he will face Australia’s Christopher O'Connell in the round of 64 on Friday.
