Stefanos Tsitsipas has revealed that he is at peace with his recent struggles in the sport as he predicts that there will be "difficult times" to come in his career.
The World No. 6 started the year on a high with a run to the final of the Australian Open. On the way, he ousted the likes of Jannik Sinner and Karen Khachanov before finishing as runner-up to Novak Djokovic.
However, the Greek player went on to experience some form struggles, something which has become more evident recently as he suffered several early exits on the
ATP Tour.
Tsitsipas not stressing about the past
Most recently, Tsitsipas was eliminated in the second round of the US Open, where he suffered a shock defeat to Dominic Stricker. This came after a summer of early exits, including a first-round loss at the Canadian Open. Last week, he was beaten by Nicolas Jarry in the opening round of the China Open.
In a recent ATP Tennis Radio Podcast episode, the 25-year-old admitted that things had been difficult, but that he had accepted this.
"There are always going to be moments like this, and I'm pretty sure it's not going to be the last time something like this happens. Speaking of which, yes, these last few weeks perhaps even two months haven't been that great and my level of performance hasn't been delivering up to my standards," he said.
"And I do feel it. I do feel the disappointment and I do feel the need to get better. I have been working a lot of hours on the court. We still in the time, through difficult times we grow in. And I try to see it from the from the bright side, even though it hurts a little bit," he continued.
Tsitsipas is currently competing at the Rolex
Shanghai Masters, where he defeated Rinky Hijikata in the opening round.
