Former world number one Margaret Court has apparently her exile from the Australian Open after making a rare appearance in the main court. The 82-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in the history of women’s tennis in the singles category, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles, including 11 Australian Open titles.

Despite her on-court achievements, Court has had a fallout with Tennis Australia after her famous remarks about the LGBTQ+ community. In 2017, the Albury-born legendary tennis player stated that she would boycott Australian airline Qantas after it supported same-sex marriage.

Court later appeared in a radio show claiming that the sport is full of ‘lesbians’ and made insensitive remarks about transgender children as well. Those comments did not go down well with Tennis Australia, which had to publicly come out and distance itself from the remarks of the greatest Australian tennis player in history.

Those comments received some serious backlash from some of the big names in the tennis world, including former world number one John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova and Andy Murray, who demanded Tennis Australia to change the court named after her for making such remarks.

Since then, Court appeared very rarely to watch the Australian Open, but that changed on Tuesday as she watched the first quarterfinal in the men’s singles category,y where world number two Germany’s Alexander Zverev came out on top against America’s Tommy Paul with a score of 7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1.

As per a report published by the English media outlet Daily Express, Tennis Australia invited Court and many former tennis greats to honour Neale Fraser, who passed away at the age of 91. The list featured some notable names, including Pat Cash, Mark Edmondson, John Fitzgerald, and Ken Rosewall, who will attend the ceremony on Wednesday to pay tribute to Fraser, who lifted three Grand Slams in his career.
