Swedish tennis player,
Mikael Ymer has been fined around $40k after being disqualified for smashing his racquet in a meltdown the week before the French Open.
An ATP Tour spokesperson said that he forfeited the 9,980 euros in prize money in prize money that he won and ranking points as well as a $29,000 fine.
But he could yet be fined more with an ATP Fines Committee set to conduct a review of what happened to determine whether it needs further action.
After losing to Lorenzo Musetti in the first round on Sunday, he was asked about how he reacted in Lyon before the fine was confirmed.
“With all due respect, I think it’s pretty clear from the video what caused it & why I reacted the way I reacted. Not justifying it at all of course," he said as per AP.
