"Not fair on the players": Mouratoglou weighs in on players getting booed for wanting marks checked at French Open

Several players at this year's Roland Garros (French Open) have faced criticism from the crowd when asking to have a ball mark checked, and this has been deemed an injustice, according to renown coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev was booed heavily by the crowd when he asked the umpire to check a ball mark during his opening round match. Additionally, Tunisian star Ons Jabeur faced the same treatment for mark checking during her match against home favorite Oceane Dodin.

Mouratoglou believes players have the right to ask for a review, adding it could be seen as a sense of double injustice when the crowd boos a player for requesting to have a mark checked.

"Since the start of the season I noticed that every time a player is asking for a chair umpire to check the mark, the crowd is booing him non stop, looks like the player is doing something so wrong and so bad," said Mouratoglou. "I think it's not fair on the players because I think when they're asking to check a mark, it's because they feel that there was a mistake, so they already feel so bad.

"So when they ask to check and then the umpire checks which is completely in their right, and then the crowd starts booing them it becomes another injustice, which is twice in a row, which is really really bad."
