(VIDEO) Hilarious interaction between Coco Gauff, Andrey Rublev as American imitates his grunt

America’s Coco Gauff has been involved in a hilarious banter with Russia’s Andrey’s Rublev. Both players featured in an exhibition doubles contest just before the start of the Australian Open 2025.

In a video that was shared on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — women’s world number three can be seen asking Rublev about how he grunts. “How do you grunt?,” she asked. Rublev’s response was: “I don’t know. Eh? Bweh?”. In response to that, Gauff stated that she would try to copy that. “I’m gonna try that. BWEHHHH.”

Once Gauff started doing that, Rublev stopped grunting, which did not impress the one-time Grand Slam winner, who asked, “Where is the grunt?.” Both Gauff and Rublev will feature in the upcoming Australian Open, which will begin from January 12, where players from all over the world will participate to not only showcase their talent but secure the ultimate prize as well.

Gauff will start the competition as one of the favourites to go all the way and secure the title, largely because of her impressive form in the recent past. She lifted the last major title in the women’s calendar in 2024 after beating China’s Zheng Qinwen in the final with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 7-6. That’s not it, as she also played a key role in helping the USA win the United Cup, as they defeated Poland in the final with a score of 2-0. On the other hand, Rublev will be hoping to leave his mark on the proceedings, and he will start the competition as the one to watch out for.
