Britain’s
Katie Boulter asked the authorities to put a TV channel on to watch her boyfriend,
Alex de Minaur, play during the Australian Open. Both players
have been dating for a while and are known as one of the power couples in
professional tennis.
The two recently got engaged as well and shared the pictures
in a post on their official account on the social media platform Instagram. Both
Boulter and De Minaur, who most recently participated in the United Cup and represented
their respective countries, have taken in the first Grand Slam of the year — the
Australian Open — in the singles category.
In a video posted on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — Boulter can be seen asking the authorities in the warm-up area to change the TV channel to see her boyfriend’s second-round fixture in the mega-event. De Minaur proved too hot to handle for his opponent Tristan Boyer
in the round of 64 as he secured a win in straight sets with a score of 6-2,
6-4, 6-3 to secure his spot in the third round.
He will now face Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, who booked
his spot in the next round after being awarded a walkover against his fellow
countryman Facundo Diaz Acosta. The final score of the match was 6-2, 1-0. It will
be the first-ever meeting between the two players. On the other hand, Boulter’s
journey in the mega-event came to an end as she lost to Veronika Kudermetova
with a score of 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.
