Ashleigh Barty to finish year-end No. 1 for 3rd year in a row

The year-end WTA rankings are now set and for the 3rd year in a row, it will be Ashleigh Barty on top with six players finishing in the top 10 for the first time.

The 2021 WTA season is officially over and before we look ahead to the 2022 season one final WTA ranking will be published on Monday. That will reveal that Ashleigh Barty will finish as the best player in the world for the 3rd year in a row showcasing just how good Barty has been overall. She has been the most consistent tennis player not only in 2021 but also in the past three years.

This year she achieved a longtime dream by lifting the Wimbledon trophy which is the main reason she was able to hold on to her ranking. Besides Baryt many other tennis players had a tremendous season as well which is why we will have six tennis players finishing in the top 10 at the end of the year for the first time in their careers.

Krejickova, Sakkari, Kontaveit, Badosa, Swiatek, and Jabeur all finish the year in the top 10 for the first time in their careers. Coco Gauff is the youngest tennis player in the top 20 with the American ranked 17th as of now at age 17. Fellow teenager Emma Raducanu finishes her year inside the top 20 as well at number 19.
