The top seed in Hua Hin keeps on marching to the final as Andreescu downed Russian Zakharova 6-2 7-5 in straight sets to advance to the quarter-finals.
Andreescu played another solid match to advance to the quarter-finals as she works her way to peak form. It's far from her best but she's doing enough to win matches continuously which is important for her. She started strongly in this one taking the opening set 6-2 thanks to some amazing ball striking.
The second set was largely similar to the first one but this around Zakharova actually showed up and played some solid tennis. Andreescu wasn't able to create enough pressure and she didn't see any break points until very late in the set. When she finally got the chance, she took it to close out the match 7-5 in the second set.
It was a solid effort overall as she dropped her serve only once and allowed only that one break point. She converted all four break points her opponent gave her demonstrating some stellar shots in the process.
