Coco Gauff as ever playing the opening slot on the show courts breezed through her business for a second round in a row against Romanian qualifier Anca Todoni 6-2, 6-1.
Gauff won through in just over an hour against Todoni who is ranked World No.142 with Olga Danilovic being defeated by the latter in the opening round to set up the clash with the World No.2. She is now set to face the winner of British qualifier Sonay Kartal or Clara Burel in the third round in that wide open bottom section.
In particular, a match against either Naomi Osaka or Emma Navarro will likely lurk for Gauff. Albeit she seems to thrive against smaller name players in these tournaments often being pencilled in early and winning through in no time at all.
It was a fairly shaky start for Gauff who got better as the match went on. But despite the shaky back and forth start, she found the way to head into a 4-1 lead breaking serve. She consolidated it from there and served out the set at 6-2.
Gauff broke serve right out the gate in the second for more of a dominant time. She broke serve at 1-0 and then stormed into a 4-1 lead and looked imperious from there as she dealt with the Todoni threat with pure class. She sealed it 6-1 to move through.
Light work certainly from Gauff who sticks to her task at the top of the draw so far at Wimbledon. Now Carlos Alcaraz will take to No.1 Court. He faces Aleksandar Vukic. Emma Raducanu then follows against Elise Mertens. Daniil Medvedev is currently playing on Centre Court on a day that Jannik Sinner will also play Matteo Berrettini. But in a real whirlwind, Gauff is already through to the third round.

World #2 Coco Gauff, probably the biggest favorite to reach the final on the bottom half of the Women's Singles draw, is the first player into #Wimbledon R3. Beats Anca Todoni 6-2, 6-1 under the Court 1's roof to reach the last 32. Awaits Kartal or Bural on Friday.
