In our
Daily Dose of Social Media, we take a look back at some of the best moments of
entertainment from the day that just passed.
Mostly of course from the Madrid Open we have
Coco Gauff's bizarre tattoo interaction, a downbeat
Novak Djokovic,
Matteo Arnaldi trying not to s*** himself after winning a landmark tie and also top stars attempting flamenco.
Gauff meets fan with signature tattooed on her
A tattoo is a real sign of a love for somebody or something that you get it on your body permanently and Coco Gauff had a fan do just that.
Gauff sealed her latest win on Saturday and she said she met a fan who previously got a picture of the American tattooed on her and added a signature which she also got tattooed.
As for Gauff though, no tattoos are on the horizon and she won't be following Carlos Alcaraz.
"I met her maybe two years ago here and she had me like going for a forehand slice tattoo. Then she asked me to sign by it and said she was going to get it tattooed. I don't know why I thought she was lying considering she already got a tattoo of me. So I signed it and this year she showed me she had the tattoo of my signature on her arm. I remember it and it's crazy," said Gauff on Tennis Channel.
"Somebody also got when I won the US Open tattooed on them. I was like you're better than me. People ask if I'd get the US Open tatted on me as Carlos did and I was like no. I love winning but not that much."
Downbeat Djokovic crashes out
Novak Djokovic was dumped out of the Madrid Open by a certain Matteo Arnaldi as his recent woes were confounded. He also cut a pretty forlorn figure in his press conference.
Not the usually upbeat Djokovic in face of defeat as he even mooted it could be the last time he plays in Madrid in a big retirement hint.
"I was hoping I can play one more match than I played in Monte-Carlo. Kind of new reality for me, I have to say. You know, trying to win a match or two, not really thinking about getting far in the tournament. It's a completely different feeling from what I had in 20-plus years of professional tennis, so it's kind of a challenge for me mentally to really face these kind of sensations on the court, going out early now regularly in the tournaments.
"But, you know, that's, I guess, the circle of life and the career (smiling), eventually it was going to happen. Now I'm trying to, you know, use this as a driving force for the future. Obviously Grand Slams, I was saying many times, are the most important tournaments for me. Which doesn't mean that I don't want to win here, of course I wanted to but, you know, Grand Slams is where I really want to play the best tennis. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that in Roland Garros, but I'll do my best.”
Threading the eye of the needle Fonseca style
Closing out the night in Madrid is a late night cap from Joao Fonseca who is currently facing Tommy Paul.
He is already putting on a show for those in attendance including Victoria Azarenka who was still playing in doubles and stuck around to watch one of the games of the day.
Wherever Fonseca goes, a crowd follows so as always it is like a big boxing fight, it is a must watch affair. But as Fonseca showed so far, he is putting on a show.
Arnaldi tried not to s*** his pants in Djokovic win
Matteo Arnaldi's strategy involved trying not to defecate he admitted hilariously after he saw off Novak Djokovic on Saturday afternoon.
"At the start I was just trying to not s*** in my pants, to be honest," he said honestly after sealing the win.
Arnaldi is known to count Djokovic as his idol albeit it seems to be the case every week when he loses so who knows what to believe anymore.
But Arnaldi certainly weathered that scare to great effect to seal the win.
Madrid stars attempt to flamenco dance
As ever being at tournaments leads to the top names having to take part in hilarious challenges and top ATP and WTA stars were asked to flamenco dance for Tennis Channel.
Among those to take part were Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Mirra Andreeva, Emma Navarro, Jack Draper, Andrey Rublev and Holger Rune.
Albeit with mixed results especially when it came to the ATP stars. Who does it best?
Emma Navarro pens 'kooky tale' in ad libs
Asked to name different adjectives and people for categories, Emma Navarro hilariously penned a 'kooky tale'.
She then had to read the ad lib at the end of it including saying she was 'ravenous' after just going to eat a poke bowl.
As of time of writing, she will have to win a decider as she is currently facing Donna Vekic for a spot in the Last 16 fluffing an early set lead.
