Donna Vekic and Tsitsidosa stun in their outfits for the night.
Jelena Ostapenko made for driving a Porsche
Jelena Ostapenko has a lot of fans on social media for her no-nonsense approach to tennis where she will always dictate how she is feeling both in interviews and on court.
So winning the Porsche was always going to be very befitting of the iconic Latvian as she took to the orange Porsche for the first time to drive around the track after winning the title doing so like a pro with one hand.
Ostapenko unlike Elena Rybakina last year can drive so there wasn't a repeat of 2024 where the Kazakh had to be driven around. But it was also a good thing for Rybakina as she had an intensive driving course in order to start.
She now drives the Porsche in Dubai and has stated she drives her team around so it all came full circle. But Ostapenko just suits it as the video shows below.
Elena Rybakina practices for first time on clay...officially
Elena Rybakina will play her first tournament on clay this season this next week in Madrid as she was flanked by her coach Davide Sanguinetti as she walked onto court all smiles at the Caja Magica.
The title says officially as she has been working on clay as she has been practicing in Dubai at a private club with her banned coach Stefano Vukov.
As was pictured in recent weeks, Vukov is still very much involved despite his ban. So no doubt he has had input going into this event and has been sharpening her tools ahead of her clay court run.
It has been a good and bad season for Rybakina. As ever when she has been on form, she has been great but also she hasn't played well in a while and some remark that she has looked lost on the court.
With events off it filling the column inches, it is easy to understand why but with a concise block of tournaments, she can block out any noise and looked happy to be back in Madrid.
Rafael Nadal wins 2025 Laureus Sporting Icon Award
Rafael Nadal had a successful evening at the Laureus Sports Awards in what will be a busy summer gaining his applause.
Nadal will be honoured at the French Open in a few weeks time and has been honoured tonight at the awards ceremony often dominated by his rival Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic was also in attendance in Madrid. As was Carlos Alcaraz who was with him on the red carpet as they were pictured together doing interviews.
An icon receiving an award befitting of his stature. Vamos!
The unlucky coincidence for Swiatek
Iga Swiatek was defeated in the Stuttgart Open Quarter-Finals by Jelena Ostapenko and journalist Bastien Fachan pointed out an unhappy coincidence for her.
There have been three incidences this season alone where Swiatek has lost to a player who has won the title. The 2025 Australian Open which saw her lose out to Madison Keys who beat Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
Mirra Andreeva defeated her in the semi-finals of Indian Wells and went on to win the title defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the final. While Ostapenko becomes the latest beating her in the final of the Stuttgart Open.
Dazzling Donna Vekic and Tsitsidosa stun at Laureus World Sports Awards
But while Rafael Nadal picked up an award also flanked by Carlos Alcaraz no doubt post MRI, there was also a heavy tennis attendance with some stunning outfits on the red carpet.
Novak Djokovic attended, while it was perhaps Donna Vekic as well as Tsitsidosa (Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa) that stole the show with their appearances.
Vekic in an all black number, while Tsitsidosa were all matching. Tsitsipas in a white suit and Badosa in a white dress. They are three players who need to bounce back over the next week.
Vekic left Stuttgart in tears after losing against Jana Fett, Badosa is in the top 10 but has not been the same since getting injured in Mexico. While Tsitsipas had to retire six minutes in to his match with Arthur Fils.
Work to do for all next week including Djokovic. But on the red carpet they all dazzle.
