America’s
Danielle Collins has managed to adopt injured dog ‘crash’
after he was discharged from the hospital. The 31-year-old recently featured in
the
Miami Open where after winning the round of 32 clash against Switzerland’s Rebeka
Masarova in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, she asked everyone to
pray for a dog she saw on the street after being hit by a car.
“The other night when we were leaving the stadium, we saw
this dog curled up in the middle of the road,” she said back then. “He got hit
by a car. I was like, we have to pull over.. we took him out of the street.
He’s been in the hospital now for two days. We’re hoping to adopt him and take
him home. Right now he’s in critical condition at the animal hospital. If
everyone can say some prayers for my new pet.. his name is Crash, because he
was in a car crash. Please guys, send good energy to my little baby.. that
would be great.”
Collins, who journey in the Miami Open ended in the round of
16 where she lost to reigning world number one Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets
with a score of 6-4, 6-4, in a post on her official account on the social media
platform Instagram, which has been quoted by BBC Sports, where she stated that
the dog now named ‘crash’ has been released from the hospital and she has ‘officially
adopted him’.
" Crash update: Crash is recovering and finally out of
the hospital after 5 days on oxygen support,” she wrote. “His breathing is back
to normal, his wounds are healing, and he is definitely enjoying all the love
he is receiving. He is curious, affectionate, and grateful for a second chance
at life. It was so incredibly painful to witness a dog in so much pain after
being hit by a car, and left in the middle of the road with so many people
driving by his curled up body. I’m just grateful I was able to be there and get
him the care he needed. I have officially adopted him and Quincy now has a new
brother! Once he finishes recovering he will be attending school 💕
thank you to everyone who prayed for Crash🙏Also a massive thank you
to the wonderful team of veterinarians that took care of Crash and helped him
receive the best possible care!"
