Elena Rybakina and
Jessica Pegula have both withdrawn from the
Korea Open which is due to take place between September 16-22, 2024.
Rybakina in particular has been in strife with illness and injury as of late and withdrew from her second round at the 2024 US Open. There has been murmerings about the rest of her season and also she recently split from coach, Stefano Vukov.
But she has decided to postpone her return at least for the start of the Asian hard court swing. While Pegula of course reached the final of the 2024 US Open.
She won't play next week either. Amanda Anisimova posted pictures of herself in Seoul without being in the initial Entry List but she is now entered. Viktoriya Tomova is the next into the Entry List and has now entered due to Rybakina withdrawing.
Iga Swiatek leads the field with the likes of Daria Kasatkina, Emma Navarro, Liudmila Samsonova, Diana Shnaider and Marta Kostyuk are the other top 20 players. Other main-draw entrants include Karolina Pliskova, Katie Boulter and Ajla Tomljanovic.
Anastasia Potapova also withdrew last week with Shuai Zhang and Elina Avanesyan both benefitting as a result.
