Emma Raducanu now holds the unwanted statistic as the worst Grand Slam winner since the introduction of the WTA 1000 tournaments in 2009. This after she was defeated by Moyuka Uchijima on Thursday.

Raducanu holds a win percentage of only 42.3% over the course of her career in these events since winning the 2021 US Open as an unheralded unknow.

She now sits behind Francesca Schiavone who is the second worst since the tournaments were set and it also gives a grim picture for other players who were one slam wonders as such. Sofia Kenin only holds a 51.3% success rate in these events after winning the Australian Open in a time where new winners were cropping up most weeks.

Sloane Stephens is next up who also won the US Open like Raducanu and sits at 53.8% success. With Jelena Ostapenko having the next highest with 54.7%. Albeit while Ostapenko has not set the world alight since winning Roland Garros, she has become a steady player.

Raducanu on the other hand lost to a Japanese player firmly on the rise. Uchijima will now face off against Coco Gauff, a match between Raducanu and Gauff had publications purring but it is the Japanese player who was on the rise that sealed the win.

Raducanu sits at 11-15 in terms of losses during the WTA 1000 tournaments. It has been a long road back for the Brit who has also had the ordeal of the stalker recently in Dubai and it is not getting easier.
