Former world number one Ana Ivanovic and Croatia tennis star Donna Vekic reunited at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz after a decade.
In a picture posted on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — Vekic posted a picture with the 36-year-old. Interestingly, it is the same venue where the two were photographed a decade back during a WTA event.
Ivanovic retired from the sport in December 2016. She had a more than decent time on the court in the singles category where she won a Grand Slam title as well. She lifted the French Open in 2008 after beating the former world number one Russia’s Dinara Safina in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
That’s not it as Ivanovic also finished as the runner-up in major events twice. In 2007, she lost to the former world number one Belgium’s Justine Henin in the final of the French Open with a score of 6-1, 6-2. In 2008, the Belgrade-born lost in the final of the Australian Open to Russia’s Maria Sharapova with a score of 7-5, 6-3.
On the other hand, Vekic is still playing at the highest level and is currently ranked 25 in the women’s singles category. She has won four WTA titles in her career.
