After spending much time over the past two years sidelined due to various injuries, Emma Raducanu has teamed up with a new fitness trainer, which could quickly have a positive impact on her game, according to former British player Laura Robson.

Raducanu will head to the upcoming Australian Open without any competitive action, after withdrawing from the ongoing Adelaide International due to injury. The British star has faced difficulties with her fitness, prompting several to label her as 'injury-prone' as she has retired from numerous matches in her short career.

Working with a renown fitness trainer will improve her game, says Robson

The 2021 US Open champion has begun working with fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura, who has previously been with five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova and two-time Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka when they were winning Grand Slams.

Robson believes Nakamura could be the missing piece to Raducanu's resurgence, as the renown trainer has produced results with several of his clients.

"I think you could see it pretty instantly," said the former player-turned-Eurosport analyst. "He’s got such a huge amount of experience from working with Sharapova and working with plenty of other players out on tour, but also other sports.
"So I think it will be a work in progress like it is for any other tennis player, but just the fact that she's got someone in her corner now that's doing the work day and day out, I think you’ll see a change pretty quickly."

Raducanu will kick off her 2025 Australian Open campaign against 26th-seed Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova.
