Iga Swiatek secured the 2nd point for Polan against Romania in the
Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers leading her nation towards the finals.
It was the first match Swiatek played as the official number one in the world and she played every bit of it. The matches were played on hard courts and that was not an issue for Swiatek who has been dominating on that surface for over a month in WTA tennis. Fresh from her Sunshine double triumph Swiatek took an early lead against Buzarnescu and she did not look back.
It was 3-0, then 5-0 and ultimately finished with 6-1. She was simply dominating the rallies against Buzarnescu and won the vast majority of them. At times she was quite relaxed and played loose which was normal considering the level of dominance. Had she been focused 100 % she could have easily posted a double bagel as she did against Pliskova in Rome last year.
The 2nd set was pretty much the same. She continued dominating taking an early 2-0 lead, and then a 4-0 lead. She finished off with the bagel 6-0. Great display by the world number one.
