Karolina Pliskova withdraws from the 2022 Australian Open

Karolina Pliskova becomes the first high-ranked player to withdraw from the 2022 Australian Open after injuring her hand in practice.
This year has been a strong one for Karolina Pliskova who achieve some amazing results. The Czech player played in the Wimbledon final along with several other notable results which have allowed her to climb all the way up to number four on the rankings. But disaster strikes early in the next season as Pliskova injured herself in practice.
The injury will keep her away from the courts for a while which means that she will miss the 2022 Australian Open. She announced the news with a picture of herself where it shows her hand in a cast. The picture was accompanied by a description that reads:
“Some days are worse than others. Unfortunately, I will be out for a while and will not compete at my favorite tournaments in Australia. But time and believe can heal everything."
The injury ends Pliskova's streak of playing at 35 consecutive grand slam events which is a truly remarkable number.
