Sofia Kenin and
Ons Jabeur are the next two players that will play the fourth round at the 2020
Roland Garros after third-round victories in Paris.
While both Kenin and Jabeur will play in the fourth round of the 2020 Roland Garros, their journey has been much different. The American enjoyed a quick victory, however, Jabeur needed to fight for her spot as she faced dangerous
Aryna Sabalenka.
Although Jabeur was the first to kick-off the match against Sabalenka, Sofia Kenin ended her match much earlier. The 2020 Australian Open champion lost the first two games of the match as her opponent, Maria Bara Irina got a quick lead. However, that was all that she managed to do in the match, as Kenin went onto 12-game winning streak to win the match 6-2, 6-0 in an hour and 14 minutes.
The match between the eight-seeded Aryna Sabalenka and no. 30 in Paris, Ons Jabeur was much more interesting. Despite having 3 set points in the 12th game of the first set, Jabeur didn't succeeded in winning the set without a tie-break. However, in the tie-break, she showed an incredible come back when she was losing already 1-5, but managed to convert her 6th set point to win the set 9-7 in the tie-break.
Then, Sabalenka showed her true power in the second set. The Belarusian went onto 15-point winning streak to get a quick 5-1 lead in the second set. She didn't lose that and won the second set 6-2 in just 22 minutes. Although, she has won the fight, she didn't win the battle as Jabeur showed her best performance in the third set again to win it 6-3 and advance to the fourth round after two hours and 4 minutes.
