Naomi Osaka's media company raises $5m in further business venture for former World No.1

Former World No.1 Naomi Osaka has not only found success on the tennis court, but also seems to be thriving in her other business ventures.

The Japanese superstar recently launched Hana Kuma, her own media company in partnership with NBA megastar Lebron James in June 2022. It appears the company has acquired capital, with the Hollywood Reporter stating Hana Kuma had raised $5 million in a funding round.

Other investors include SpringHill Company — which the Hana Kuma will spin off from — Epic Games, Boston Red Sox owner Fenway Sports Group, The Kinoshita Group, and technology investment firm Disruptive.

“We really want to see her build her own version of SpringHill,” said SpringHill CEO Maverick Carter. “We’ve worked really hard to get SpringHill where it is, but now we want to help others to do the same, and to do it different than as we have done at SpringHill, and to do it in their own way and their own voice.”
