Osaka withdraws from Melbourne Summer Set 1 due to injury, Kudermetova receives walk-over through to final

Naomi Osaka was due to play in the semi-final of Melbourne Summer Set 1 this morning but withdrew from the tournament during the night handing her opponent Veronika Kudermetova a walk-over.

Kudermetova will now face Simona Halep in the final with Osaka citing injury as the reason saying that playing back-to-back intense matches after the break has took its toll.

"Sad to withdraw due to injury from my match today, my body got a shock from playing back to back intense matches after the break I took. Thank you for all the love this past week. I’ll try to rest up and I’ll see you soon," she wrote on social media.
