After playing great in Adelaide this past week,
Paula Badosa has gone from delight to despair after withdrawing from the 2023
Australian Open due to injury.
Badosa took to social media to reveal the news saying it was due to Adelaide with an abductor injury keeping her out for a few weeks
"After receiving the results, I will have to be out for a few weeks," she wrote. "Said to miss Australian Open this year, really going to miss it. I will do everything I can to return as soon as possible."
But not only is Badosa out but also
Ajla Tomljanovic who also confirmed the news in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Tomljanovic has faced a race against time to get fit again with a knee injury and has not done so meaning that Australia does not have a player inside the top 150 playing in the Women's Draw after having multiple last year with Ash Barty of course involved.
"Just ran out of time to heal and be 100% ready to compete at a high level. It's been a very tough decision to make but I have to listen to my body. It's no secret that this is my favourite place to play so it hurts to miss out on a great opportunity to play in front of my home crowd and to be surrounded by the incredible love and atmosphere."
