RESULTS: Who is crowned WTA Player of the Year 2024?

Over 200 votes cast and the winner of the WTA Player of the Year has been confirmed from our TennisUpToDate Awards poll produced after the end of the season.

Aryna Sabalenka won by some distance with 30% of the votes cast picking the Belarusian to win. She won two major titles and became World No.1 again cementing that spot as the imperious queen of women's tennis.

The interesting part was the tie for second place with Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff both finishing with the same 22%. It has been an up and down season for both with the former winning more titles but also suffering setbacks by not being able to transport that Roland Garros form into other majors.

She has also recently changed coach and now has had the issue of having to serve a doping ban mid season which has polarised the tennis community. Gauff on the otherhand ended her season well. She sits on 22% of the vote also and won the WTA Finals but at times it was a nightmare with the American nearly slumping to American No.3 behind Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro.

The same Navarro that defeated her twice in two majors at Wimbledon and ending her US Open title defence. The other players in the reckoning were Jasmine Paolini with 12% who reached two major finals and had a breakout season.

While Zheng Qinwen is on 9% finishing fifth after her terrific end to the season. Others including Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Anna Kalinskaya, Diana Shnaider and Danielle Collins all finished on one percent with Emma Navarro the only player not commanding any of the vote from nearly 300 entries.

The WTA may have got it wrong with their lists in the eyes of some but this is perhaps conclusive evidence of the top stars this season and where they would rank in a public poll.
