In another spectacular performance,
Iga Swiatek overpowered
Viktorija Golubic to reach the third round of the
Miami Open on Friday.
Swiatek required just 74 minutes to breeze past Golubic, recording a 6-0 6-2 victory as she notched yet another impressive win. The Polish star has been on a tear, winning her last two events to acquire a 12-match unbeaten run.
After obtaining an early break to lead 2-0, it became obvious that Golubic was no match for the Indian Wells champion. Swiatek's combination of power and accuracy was too much for the Swiss, who surrendered the first set without winning a single game.
The second set saw Golubic put on more of a fight, and she even managed to break the 2020 Roland Garros champion. However, it was to no avail as Swiatek regained control and closed out the match, as the World No.2 looks to add a third consecutive trophy to her cabinet.
Swiatek will face American Madison Brengle in the third round.
