The WTA 250 Hobart International will be held on the island of Tasmania in its 30th edition, taking place between January 6 and 11, concluding just one day before the start of the 2024 Australian Open. The main draw is led by Elise Mertens, Sofia Kenin, Dayana Yastremska and Amanda Anisimova.
The tournament offers a prize money of $275,094 and a total of 250 points for the champion. Players will have the opportunity to gain valuable match practice in the week leading up to the Aussie Open, enhancing their form for the first Grand Slam of the year.
The defending champion, Emma Navarro, will not participate in the tournament due to preferring to play Adelaide where she lost early on. The final which takes place in the early hours of Saturday morning features Elise Mertens facing McCartney Kessler.
They will battle for a share of $36,300 with the finalist who is defeated getting $21,484 in the end. It is a mad dash from there then to Melbourne as the top names get ready for an Australian Open title tilt.
