Canadian tennis star
Denis Shapovalov may have his hands full in preparation for the 2023
Miami Open, but he had enough time to witness his girlfriend Mirjam Bjorklund win her maiden WTA 1000 match at the women's event.
World No. 149 Bjorklund entered the ongoing event as a qualifier and beat Ysaline Bonaventure and Tamara Zidansek to enter the main draw. This was also Bjorklund's debut in the maindraw of a WTA 1000 tournament, and Shapovalov celebrated the occasion by engulfing his girlfriend in a big hug.
Bjorklund defeated World No.71 Jasmine Paolini 4-6 6-4 6-4 in two hours and 22 minutes, and will face 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the second round.
"Let's go," Shapovalov tweeted.
