Former world number one Bjorn Borg’s son Leo Borg had a disappointing outing at the Barcelona Open. The ATP 500 event’s main round will begin from April 14 where players from all over the world will showcase their talent and secure the ultimate prize.

Borg’s son, Leo, was hoping to be one of the players to feature in the main round but he faltered in the qualifying round. The 21-year-old, who is currently ranked world number 493, was featured in the qualifying round of the mega-event and lost to Britain’s Jacob Fearnley in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 7-6.

Leo managed to win just 78 points in the match, 13 fewer than his opponent. The youngster managed to produce just 11 winners in the match, 19 fewer than Fearnley. The most disappointing aspect for Leo would be that his father was sitting in the stands watching his son play.

Bjorn is regarded as one of the greats of the game, especially during his playing days. He finished his career after winning as many as 11 Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career. His most successful competition was the French Open, where he lifted the title six times. Interestingly, he failed to win a single major title on hard-court, despite playing in the final of the US Open on four occasions. His first major title came at the Roland Garros in 1974, where he defeated Spain’s Manuel Orantes in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 2–6, 6–7(4–7), 6–0, 6–1, 6–1. His last title also came at the same venue seven years later, where he defeated Ivan Lendl in the final.
