The semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 saw Carlos Alcaraz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina face each other in an exciting duel, where the former came with doubts in his game and the latter in one of his best moments.

Alcaraz had suffered a lot in the quarterfinals to beat Arthur Fils. He needed a great performance to seal the win after several consecutive tournaments without being able to reach the title match in any of them.

Although Davidovich did not make it easy for him, Carlitos managed to win the match 6-7, 4-6, and qualify for his first ATP 1000 final of the season.

Davidovich makes Alcaraz suffer

In the first set, Carlos Alcaraz started with a 0-3 lead after breaking Alejandro Davidovich's first serve. However, the player from Malaga did not make things easy for him, and he was going to fight every point as if it was his last.

After an exchange of breaks, Alcaraz was 3-5 up and serving to win the first set. Although he had a set point, Davidovich managed to break his serve to stay in the match. Everything led to the tie break.

In the tiebreak, Alcaraz chained 4 consecutive points to leave it practically sentenced. The player from Murcia dominated the tie break by 2-7, and took the first set of the match.

Alcaraz relies on his serve

In the second set, Carlitos started dominating with an initial break to Davidovich. After confirming it, the player from Murcia was 0-2 up. In the next game he had up to 6 break balls to leave the match on track, but the player from Malaga managed to survive all of them to stay alive.

But here Alcaraz had begun to feel more and more confident with his serve, and Davidovich felt it. As a result, the Spaniard went 3-5 up without giving his opponent a single chance to break.

Carlos Alcaraz did not want to wait for his serve to close the match. He had 4 break and match balls on Davidovich's serve, but Davidovich saved all of them not to lose hope.

Even so, Carlitos remained totally firm with his serve, and ended up qualifying for the final of the Monte Carlo Masters by 6-7, 4-6. Congratulations to Alejandro Davidovich, who has played a tournament of the highest level, which generates illusion for the next events.
