Nick Kyrgios fiercely defends himself after past domestic abuse allegations resurface, triggered by his comments on doping controversies involving Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner. The Australian has been one of the most outspoken critics of his peers in these cases.
A few months ago, it was revealed that Sinner had failed doping tests twice, but the ITIA decided not to suspend him, citing no fault or negligence after their investigation. Many of his colleagues criticised what they saw as "preferential treatment," recalling the lengthy bans other players have faced in similar cases.
One of the most vocal critics was Kyrgios, who repeatedly targeted the Italian on social media. After the positive doping case of five-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek was confirmed yesterday, the Australian once again took to social media to react, reposting another user’s statement.
“1 month ban 😆 It’s not even April Fool’s Day. Don’t play with us like that. Two number 1s in the world failing drug tests in the same year is wild,” a user posted, which Kyrgios reshared, adding: “OUR SPORT IS COOKED 😴😭.”
However, another user responded harshly to Kyrgios. "A bigger problem in our sport is that abusers like you are allowed to keep on playing without any punishments at all, so shut the hell up before you say our sport is cooked.”
"Huh? Did you read my case? ….. When a potato like you speaks without facts, that’s called spreading misinformation…. Hahahaha be upset,” the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up wrote.
"Our' sport? mf, you don’t even play,” another user replied in the same post.
“Playing the Aus Open? When’s the last time you played a professional tournament? God, social media has given peanuts a voice… hilarious,” Kyrgios retorted.
