Dominic Thiem finally got to play some tennis after his match was postponed yesterday due to rain and he won, taking down Federico Delbonis 7-6(6) 6-3.

Thiem and Delbonis were supposed to play yesterday however and late-day shower completely derailed the Gstaad program causing two matches to be moved to today. After finally taking to the courts, Thiem and Delbonis did not disappoint. It was a well-fought battle that lasted close to two hours and ultimately saw Thiem win. The Austrian was better early taking a 5-2 lead.

Proving that he's still not on the top of his game, Thiem squandered that lead, getting broken at 5-4 when he served for the set. It was a timely break for Delbonis who stabilized well after forcing a tiebreak. It was a very well played one from Delbonis who was up 5-2 but he could not hold it.

Producing some spectacular moments, Thiem battled back to 6-6 saving a set point in the process. He won four points in a row from 4-6 to 8-6 to win the opening set. The 2nd set featured some lacklustre play by both early but eventually, Thiem was able to find a strong balance taking the 3-1 lead. From there he was able to hold his serve without allowing a single break point.

A good match from Thiem who was excellent on his own serve not allowing much to his oponent and securing yet another quarterfinal.
