The Entry List for the 2025 Argentina Open, also known as the Buenos Aires Open, has been confirmed. The tournament will take place from February 10 to 18, 2025, and will feature top names such as Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, and Lorenzo Musetti.
The Europeans lead the entry list of a tournament that will also include the major South American tennis stars: Alejandro Tabilo, Sebastian Baez, Francisco Cerundolo, Nicolas Jarry, and none other than the rising star Joao Fonseca, who confirmed his participation just days ago.
While Carlos Alcaraz was the main star of the South American swing last year, this time World No. 2 Alexander Zverev has decided to make his clay court appearance before the Sunshine Double. The German will be the overwhelming favourite for the title, as the only top-10 player in the draw, on a surface that suits him.
Holger Rune, a regular in South American tournaments until 2022, but who had preferred European hardcourt events in recent seasons, returns to Argentina this year as one of the top players in the draw. Also, Italian Lorenzo Musetti has altered his 2024 schedule and will travel to Buenos Aires for the tournament.
Local players Sebastian Baez (5th seed), Francisco Cerundolo (6th), and Tomas Martin Etcheverry (8th) are the main local hopes, while Chileans Alejandro Tabilo (4th) and Nicolas Jarry (7th) complete the seeded players. Another favourite will be Brazilian Joao Fonseca, the only player outside the top-100 in the draw, who has secured his spot.
Buenos Aires will also have a special addition, as it will be Diego Schwartzmann's last tournament as a professional. The former World No. 8 announced his retirement in 2024 and has remained off the tour since his last appearance in the US Open main draw. The 32-year-old Argentine has been the top player in Argentina after Juan Martin Del Potro's peak, and will receive a well-deserved farewell in front of his home crowd.
The tournament has seen champions of the highest caliber, including Rafael Nadal (2015), Dominic Thiem (2016, 2018), Casper Ruud (2020, 2022), and Carlos Alcaraz. The defending champion is local Facundo Diaz Acosta, who surprised third seed Nicolas Jarry in the final last year.
