Carlos Alcaraz has been advised by many to pick his spot on a tennis court but the Spaniard is adamant about playing the sport the only way he knows how - full throttle.

Alcaraz made a lightning-fast start to his title defence at the Barcelona Open smashing Nuno Borges in two sets. It featured the typical Alcaraz performance with a lot of power and winners. The Spaniard hasn't been known as a player who picks his spot on a tennis court going full speed most of the time.

It's something he was advised not to do if he wants to have a long career but he can't help it. It's just the way he plays:

"Every time I enter the track I don't think about putting the handbrake on, it's my style of play. It may be that I wear out more or less, but I know my body and my physical abilities, recovering I also consider myself quite good.

Preserving himself is a concern though as his body did shut down a couple of times:

"Simply, discomfort is coming out that needs to be controlled, the season is very long and the demand on a tennis player is maximum. You have to be clear about the calendar and the tournaments, but nothing stops you from playing at the top of each game."
