"I think Rafa was so sad also because he knows that one day he will have to say goodbye too" - says Bjorn Borg

Rafael Nadal was very emotional watching Federer say goodbye to tennis and Bjorn Borg thinks it was because he was seeing himself in it.

Nadal admitted after the ceremony that he is a fairly sensitive person who doesn't shy away from his emotions and often gets very emotional. Fair comment by Nadal but fans were still overwhelmed by his display of emotions during the ceremony as he cried as almost as Federer did.

For Borg it signalled that he saw himself:

"For me, it was incredible to see. I think Rafa was so sad also because he knows that one day he will have to say goodbye too. But their doubles was the perfect happy ending."

He continued:

"That Roger has decided to close happily like this, here at the Laver Cup, together with Nadal. I am honoured to have been his coach these days. The other night was a great lesson for the young people: we will not see something like this for many, many years. We will miss Federer a lot."
