Rising American tennis star has been on the receiving end of a lot of praise lately, with legendary coach Rick Macci being among those to applaud the 22-year old.
Macci, who coached Venus and Serena Williams in their early years, was asked why Americans lacked strong backhands. The USPTA coach disputed this notion, citing Korda as an example.
"I think
Sebastian Korda, in my opinion, he is the leader in the clubhouse," said Macci on a recent episode of Tennis Unfiltered Podcast. "He is the most talented American. Kind of hits the forehand like
Roger Federer and his backhand is like
Andre Agassi. I mean it's automatic. I think he can win multiple Grand Slams."
Furthermore, Macci believes top-ranked American Taylor Fritz had a very strong backhand and reminded people that Korda was still recovering from injury.
"I don't think you can look at it and say 'Why can't they hit a backhand?' because I can tell you a handful of guys that have amazing backhands and I can start right at the top of my head with Korda and Fritz who are in the mix right now. Let's see when Korda gets healthy," said Macci.
