Another classic between Auger-Aliassime and Berrettini happened at the
Laver Cup with the Italian winning once more 7-6(11) 4-6 10-7.
The longest match in Laver Cup history happened last year and it was these two players that played it. This year was a bit quicker but once again a very good match between two players that are very good friends off the court.
The first set was a superb one with a spectacular finish but even before we got into the tiebreak things were exciting. Auger didn't allow a single break point in the entire set while Berrettini saved the only one he allowed. The Tiebreak saw 24 points played Auger taking a 2-0 lead, then losing 5 points in a row and then winning 3 in a row.
The result of all of that was a 5-5 score which turned into a 10-10 score not long after but eventually Berrettini outlasted his opponent 13-11. The second set was played much better by Auger who didn't allow anything o his own serve while managing to break Berrettini once. The result of his was a 6-4 triumph which sent the match into the match tiebreak.
It was both similar and different to the firsts et one. Berrettini once again had a huge run to jump out to a 7-2 lead and from there it was a rather simple task of keeping it together.
