Andy Murray had to go the full distance to secure a spot in the 2nd round of the US Open and post match he revelead his dire need for an ice bath.

Nishioka wasn't a pretty one but it was more than just a victory for Andy Murray. The end result was 4-6 4-6 7-6(5) 7-6(4) 6-4 and by the end of it Murray was in pain and she admitted to much. When asked if he will be looking for an ice bath he said:
"They have one in the locker room and they said it's for emergencies. For me this is an emergency right now. My body hurts and I need to recover as best as possible. I'll ask and see if they'll allow me to use the ice bath here. If not, I'll try to get back to the hotel as quickly as possible and get in one at the hotel."
A match that lasted almost 5 hours was very hard on the body especially when everyone is struggling with match fitness. Murray admitted that he will need to find a way to rest up:
"I need to rest up and try to recover the best I can because that's by far the most tennis I've played since 2019, when I played [Roberto] Bautista [Agut] at the
Australian Open. I need to recover well."
Later in the day during the press conference Murray was asked if he managed to get an ice bath and he confirmed that he did immidietly on site as everyone was understanding of his need for one. He also spoke about his regular use of ice baths and the uncomfortable feeling he feels in his toes when goes into one.
