US Open

The tournament features five main events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. It is played on hard courts, which are considered faster than the clay courts used at the French Open and the grass courts used at Wimbledon.

The history of the US Open dates back to 1881, when it was first held as the US National Championship. The event was initially open only to club members and their guests, and was played on grass courts at the Newport Casino in Rhode Island. Over the years, the tournament grew in size and popularity, and in 1968, it became the first Grand Slam tournament to allow professional players to compete.

Flushing Meadows has a rich history of legendary champions, including Bill Tilden, Don Budge, Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

On the women's side the 2 most famous names are Chris Evert and Serena Williams, they both won 6 titles each. Evert won her titles in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, and 1982. Williams won her titles in 1999, 2002, 2008, 2012, 2013, and 2014. The most surprising winner on the WTA side was probably Emma Raducanu. She had to play 3 qualifiers and went on all the way to the final to win it against Leylah Fernandez in 2021.

Connors was dominant during the 1970s and early 1980s, winning the US Open on three different surfaces: grass, clay, and hard court.

Sampras was a powerhouse in the 1990s, known for his powerful serve and all-court game. His last US Open win in 2002 was also his final professional match.

Federer won five consecutive US Open titles, showcasing his incredible dominance during that period.

Nadal has been a consistent force in tennis for many years, and his US Open victories highlight his adaptability and endurance.

Known for his fiery personality and brilliant shot-making, McEnroe was particularly successful in the early 1980s.

Djokovic has been one of the most dominant players of the 21st century, with his titles spanning more than a decade.

Lendl was a dominant figure in the mid-1980s, reaching eight consecutive US Open finals (1982-1989), winning three of them.
