Confidence goes a long way when competing on the ATP Tour, and tennis bad boy
Nick Kyrgios possesses that trait in spades. Nonetheless, that hasn't changed his perception among his colleagues on Tour, as the Aussie star was selected as the biggest trash talker during an
Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) event last weekend.
The 29-year old has been sidelined due to injury for over a year, but intends to make his return at next year's Australian Open. Although he has been out of action, the former Wimbledon finalist was the subject of conversation when competitors at the UTS event last weekend were asked to choose the biggest trash talker on tour.
Kyrgios' selection was almost unanimous
In a video posted to social media by the UTS, players were asked whom they would vote as the biggest trash talker on tour. Ben Shelton, Lorenzo Musetti, Ugo Humbert and even Kyrgios' close friend and compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis all chose the former World No.13 as the biggest trash talker.
However, a few other players had different people in mind. Dominic Thiem and Jan-Lennard Struff chose Gael Monfils, while the Frenchman was undecided between Kyrgios and Frances Tiafoe. Canadian Denis Shapovalov went closer to home, choosing American Ben Shelton.
After seeing the results, Kyrgios took to his Instagram story and gave his reaction, posting a shrug emoji.
