It is yet another record for the 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic as he continues his progression at the Australian Open. He is now the player with the most Grand Slam singles matches played in the open era usurping Roger Federer.

It was his 430th Grand Slam match in singles over the course of his career having started his career in 2005 Grand Slam wise and he is still going strong now at the age of 37.

He continues to break records going late into his career as he usurped the previous mark of 429 from his rival with Serena Williams the next on 423.

He already passed Federer last year in terms of Grand Slam match wins as he further attempts to establish himself truly as the greatest of all time. He has a stellar record of 379-511.

If her reaches the semi-finals of the Australian Open this year, he will become only the second man after Federer to achieve 100 match wins at the Australian Open. He has won the tournament 10 times in all having a perfect 10-0 record in finals at the first Grand Slam of the year.

Albeit he is likely to encounter a certain Carlos Alcaraz en route to said final if he gets that far. It was a poor 2024 at times for Djokovic and he is playing himself into form but after beating Jaime Faria and Nishesh Basavareddy it isn't exactly the full barometer of form.

A Quarter-Final meeting with Alcaraz would provide that who showed his form in a lights out win over Yoshihito Nishioka. He called himself a serve bot after claiming the victory with his serve in particular being punishing. Given that Djokovic struggled against Opelka two weeks ago, it is very much an interesting complexion if the serve gets wielded out again by Alcaraz as the new weapon of choice. But for today, it is another record for the great Serbian.
