Argentine
Juan Martin del Potro has been plagued by injuries for the last few years of his career and his compatriot,
Diego Schwartzman, believes del Potro needs to keep fighting and return to competitive tennis.
Schwartzman, who is a close friend of the former World No.3, stated that del Potro needs to return to the tennis courts, not just for himself but also for their home nation of Argentina.
"We all finally need to see Juan Martin Del Potro on a tennis court and more particularly here in Argentina," Schwartzman stated.
Having not played since 2019, del Potro has undergone four knee surgeries but refuses to give up. The 2009
US Open champion had some good news for his fans last week, announcing that he'd likely be making a return to tennis next season.
"The knee is much better for now. I’m still recovering, but I’m on court, which is a good thing for me," del Potro revealed. “I’m looking forward to being ready in a couple of months. If everything goes well, next season will be fine to start."
