Pablo Carreno-Busta and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are through to the 2nd round of the Rolex Paris Masters.
It took Pablo Carreno-Busta 70 minutes to battles paste Gaston 6-3 6-2 to reach the 2nd round of the Rolex Paris Masters. It was a straightforward match for the Spaniard who was the better player entering this match and he confirmed it on the pitch. He had a plan entering the match and it was attacking the Frenchman's 2nd serve which he did early and it gave results. He was even more impressive in that segment in the 2nd set. He himself served well enough despite having some struggled on his 2nd serve as well. All in all a good start for him against a native player.
He will be joined in the 2nd round by Davidovich Fokina who has been pretty good lately. He has scored numerous notable wins starting at the US Open and that translated to the hard courts indoors and to a lesser extent to clay. He opened this match very well and gave Karen a lot of trouble. The Russian faced break points in every game he served and while he saved 8 out of 9 the one he lost was enough for Fokina to clinch the set 6-3. He responded well in the 2nd set attacking the Spaniards 2nd serve which proved a successful tactic so he won the set 6-2.
It wasn't enough as he lost his serve immediately in the 3rd set to give Davidovih Fokina the 2-0 lead. He started playing better later but it was too late as the damage was already done. Ultimately he won the final set 6-2.
