Novak Djokovic mooted that there were talks brewing between himself and Andy Murray to decide the future of their partnership after their initial Australian Open trial run and it seems the legendary pair will stay together at least for now.
Djokovic stunned the tennis world in late 2024 by adding his former rival as his new coach in what was heralded as the dream combination that no-one thought would be possible especially given that Murray had just finished his career and had never coached anyone.
No-mind a 24-time Grand Slam champion who was looking to box off some of his final career accolades including his 100th trophy as well as his 25th Grand Slam. But it worked at the Australian Open despite it being somewhat clouded by Djokovic's sudden withdrawal against Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.
He has recovered from that thigh tear sufficiently enough to play Doha next week and it was these sort of draws last year that tripped him up losing to Luca Nardi, Alejandro Tabilo among others at Masters 1000 and lower level.
So it will be interesting but Murray will get until at least when he returns to his home Grand Slam to make his mark on the Djokovic camp. As per a report by The Times, he will remain as the coach for the legendary Serbian until at least Wimbledon.
This report was devised to give some rumours about Emma Raducanu's next destination and to unequivocally rule out Andy Murray at least for now calling the 'slim and fanciful hope' of a British union being fruitless right now.
Raducanu has just split from long-time coach Nick Cavaday who left due to health issues. She is working with Jane O'Donoughue but lost last night in Doha to Ekaterina Alexandrova.
So she will need to go back to the drawing board and it won't be to Murray. But names mooted as being in the running that are free could include Djokovic's former coach Goran Ivanisevic who left Elena Rybakina. But Murray remains and could be in his corner next week when he returns in Qatar. Often wanting to shroud himself from the spotlight, Murray of course gets attention being in the camp and hopefully gets results too.
Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have agreed to continue their coaching partnership up until Wimbledon (at least).
