America’s Coco Gauff posted a heartfelt picture on social media platform during her visit to Qatar. The 21-year-old is already regarded as one of the best player currently playing in women’s tennis in the singles category along with the likes of Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka and Poland’s Iga Swiatek.
Gauff, who is in Doha to participate in the upcoming Qatar Open, made a post on social media where she stated that she found solace with God while sharing a picture of indulging in the Bible.
Gauff is set to face Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in the opening round of the competition on Tuesday. It will be the fourth meeting between the two in professional tennis. In the previous three meetings, Gauff has a clear edge as she emerged victorious on three occasions. Their most recent meeting took place in the third round of the Wuhan Open last year where the one-time Grand Slam winner came out on top in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
Kostyuk’s only win over the American tennis star came in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart in 2024, where she came out on top with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 7-6. Their first-ever meeting took place in the Adelaide International in 2022, where Gauff emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. The two also met in the quarterfinal of the Australian Open last year, where Gauff again came out on top with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.
Gauff is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing outing in the first Grand Slam of the year when she takes the court in Doha this week. The 2023 US Open winner’s journey in the first Grand Slam of 2025 came to an end in the quarterfinals stage, where she lost to Spain’s Paula Badosa in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
