Carlos Alcaraz' poor form continued as he lost out to Alexander Zverev to open up the
ATP Finals and given the cut throat nature of the tournament, he will have to keep his chances alive on Wednesday.
Alcaraz though had a different topic to answer for in his post match press conference at the ATP Finals in Turin. The Spaniard has been one of only a few who have not really discussed the frequent ball changes on tour as of late.
Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz and even Novak Djokovic have showed their dismay for the situation, with the former even being on the ATP Player Council. But in the eyes of the Spaniard, there should be one ball for every single tournament which shouldn't deviate and it is the reason why many are complaining about constant injuries.
"They should do something because it is incredible that in three or four tournaments in a row, each one has a different ball. I think each tour should have the same ball. In Australia, the same ball. In South America, the same ball. Don’t change it every tournament. I think if I'm not mistaken we have played with 20 or 21 different balls throughout the year. It is crazy. There are many players injured by this. If ATP wants to have the best in every tournament, they should change this or they will all be injured.”
