After helping Novak Djokovic reach the semifinals at the 2025 Australian Open, Andy Murray could remain with the Serbian's coaching team, but only during tournaments that don't require a lot of travel, says former World No.1 Jim Courier.

Djokovic fell to German Alexander Zverev in the semifinals at Melbourne, retiring due to injury after losing the first set. Murray, who retired from professional tennis at the 2024 Paris Olympics, joined Djokovic's coaching team on a short-term basis. However, the Brit's status is up in the air following Djokovic's elimination from the Happy Slam.

Courier thinks Murray will rejoin Djokovic for Grand Slam tournaments

The retired American tennis star, who now works as an analyst for Eurosport, is of the opinion that Murray is unlikely to travel around the world with Djokovic. However, the three-time Grand Slam champion might entertain the idea of showing up in the Serbian's coaching box for events closer to home.

"It's going to be fascinating to see if Andy decides to come back on board for Roland-Garros," said Courier. "That's really the next moment that matters. I think they would have some practice weeks together in Europe, which would be convenient.
"I certainly wouldn't expect to see Andy in the Middle East or at Indian Wells and Miami, but I could see him being present for Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. Those would be convenient for him."

Although no official announcement regarding Murray's coaching status has been made, the two-time Olympic gold medalist has acknowledged that he and his former long-time rival will discuss the matter in the near future.
